Dan Strash
President
Dan joined Analytical Methods, Inc. in 1981 and has over 35 years with the company in various roles from CFD analyst, software developer, to Engineering Services Manager for Commercial Services. He has direct experience with CFD analysis methods in support of aerodynamic design and certification. Dan provides leadership, direction, and mentorship to engineering staff and promotes the services of the company to potential clients including work scope, proposal development and contract negotiations.

Jim Nathman, PhD
Director of Software Research & Development
Dr. Nathman joined Analytical Methods, Inc. in 1981 as a research scientist. Jim is currently the Director of Research Development, Software, which includes: VSAERO, a general 3D panel method with boundary layer; ICE, a three-dimensional icing collection efficiency code, and OMNI3D, a portable graphics display program. CAMRAD II is ported and tested by Dr. Nathman. He has trained approximately 100 users and provides customer support.

BS and MS in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University and a PhD in Aeroelasticity from Stanford University
Ian J. Gilchrist
Chief Aerodynamicist
Ian Gilchrist has over 50 years of experience in aerodynamic design, analysis, and testing and has worked at Analytical Methods, Inc. since 1985. His specialty is the design of airfoils and wings for transonic airplanes but he has broad experience in the aerodynamic design of air and land vehicles. He has contributed to the design and modification of numerous aircraft by combining the application of computational methods with wind tunnel testing. He has also developed codes for use in preliminary design. He has managed and participated in diverse applications of CFD codes to the solution of aerodynamic problems. Ian is now semi-retired.
Education:
Diploma in Technology with First Class Honors in Aeronautical Engineering from Loughborough University of Technology, England.
Michael D. Matarrese, PhD, Senior Aerodynamicist
Michael has over thirty years of experience in aerospace engineering, including Ph.D., four years work with Burt Rutan, eight years as independent consultant, and seven-plus years as principal aerospace engineer at Sierra Nevada Corporation. Three years of experience in solar energy research and development, including work as founder and chief technical officer for solar energy start-up company. Expertise includes aerodynamics (with special expertise in hypersonics), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), flight-vehicle design, flight dynamics, numerical analysis, system modeling and optimization, analytical methods, and software development. Michael has provided engineering services for Scaled Composites, AeroVironment, Analytical Methods, Harbor Wing Technologies, Pyramid Space, NASA, Yellow Roadway, and others.
Education:
BS (Summa cum Laude) in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Ohio State University and a MS and Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan.
Sasan Yaghmaee
Engineering Manager
Sasan is a former Boeing engineer with over 30 years of experience in the field of CFD software analysis tool development and application. Sasan is a Senior Engineer and fills the role of a Lead Flight Sciences engineer in our Engineering Services group.
Education:
BS and MS in Aerospace Engineering from San Diego State University.
Jonathan Wai, PhD
Lead CFD Engineer
Jon works in our Engineering Services Group to support CFD analysis in the Flight Sciences. He brings over 10 years of experience in fluids, CFD, heat transfer simulations, finite element analysis, and computer programming.
Education:
BS, MS and PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Washington.
Matt Heikell
CFD/CAD Engineer
Matt is part of our engineering services team supporting the CAD model development and CFD analysis. He draws on a diverse background of aerospace engineering and CNC machining to translate production designs into analysis models. Matt specialized in internal flow systems and rarefied gas dynamics during seven years with United Launch Alliance
Education:
BS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the University of Washington and a Certificate of Proficiency in Manufacturing Technology from Shoreline Community College.
